Every man dies. Not every man really lives. William Wallace From the movie Braveheart

This website has been created to honour and remember a truly wonderful man: Ron Newell.

Born on August 8th 1933 in Barrow-in-Furness, England, he passed away on June 25th, 2006, following a brave and dignified battle with cancer. He died at his home in Hazlemere, Buckinghamshire, surrounded by his family. He was just 72 years old.

For most of his life, he was a self-employed flooring contractor. His hobbies included golf and gardening. In his younger days snooker and bowling were his main interests.  Ron excelled at everything he had a passion for. He was a loyal and loving person with a dry wit and a good heart. He was well known for his generosity. He also raised thousands of pounds for charities such as cancer and M.S.

During his life he fathered six childr'en, Stephen, Kim, Kerry, Karon, Emma and Leigh. Stephen was taken from him at age 25 following a tragic car accident. They are reunited at last. That gives us comfort in our loss.

Ron leaves behind his wife of more than thirty years, Lynn and nine grandchildren: Martina, Janelle, Ronnie, Hayley, Victoria, Kristian, Darcey, Eloise, Nathan, Faith and Abbie and two great grandchild: Ellie and Jaiden.

We sat beside your bedside,Our hearts were crushed and sore; We did our best until the end,Til we could do no more. In tears we watched you sinking,We watched you fade away; And though our hearts were breaking, We knew you could not stay...'
